Responsibilities of the Finance Council

Picture
The Finance Council has the responsibility of ensuring that the parish remains financially sound and that the facilities of the parish are well maintained and updated to enable the parish to carry on the work of Christ.

The finance council is advisory to the pastor since he retains the right and duty of parish administration (cc. 532).  The finance council works closely with the pastor, the corporate board, the parish council and leaders from all areas of ministry.

The purpose of the finance council is to design financial plans for the parish that are consistent with the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the parish and to advise the pastor in the administration and accountability of parish finances, budget, parish facilities and long-range financial development.

Parish Tithing

Each year our parish budgets an amount as part of our obligation as a parish family to give to those in need.
If anyone has a need that could be addressed in this way, contact the pastor or the chairman of the Finance Council.

Household Giving

Picture
God has exhorted us throughout the ages to give back to Him from all that He has given us.
The large number of times that this message is given in both the Old and New Testaments is proof
of God’s knowledge that this is the biggest hurtle we face in coming to Him.

So what does all of this mean to us in our own Discipleship?
As part of our Discipleship we are being asked to “first give back to God in a regular and appropriate percentage from all that we receive.”
We should not give because our Parish or the Catholic Church“needs” the money, but because it is our responsibility as followers of Jesus Christ
to give back to God in thanksgiving for all that we have and to continue Christ’s work on earth.   read more...
